Apologizes for slap

Oakland Raiders defensive lineman, Richard Seymour pulled a stunt on the field that was both foolish and extremely unprofessional. For a veteran of 10 years, I don’t know what he was thinking when he made that slap to Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Not only did he let himself down, he let his team down too, it was an all-round disappointing performance by him. In the article, Seymour stated that he doesn’t remember what Ben Roethlisberger said to him; just that he was running in his direction and it was a natural reaction to hit him in the face. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said that this incident doesn’t change his opinion of both the players because he has the utmost respect for them. I am glad someone could see it that way. Because if you are a sportsmen, the only thing going out there for you is that sport itself. It is a risk to throw all that away just because you were angry and they are not getting any younger as well. He could have lost his career for his actions and it would further cost his team as well. But, Seymour did apologize to everyone and especially to his team mates, which I think is very difficult for anyone to do when everyone out there and maybe his fans are looking down on him. Nevertheless, as sportsmen, when it comes down to losing a game, they should show sportsmanship. I say, that Seymour should count himself lucky, as the worst he could face it just one game’s suspension and a fine. I hope he reflects on what he’d done and the promise he made to his team.
